We're back!

Our Christmas celebration in Rochester was wonderful. Gracie is growing so much. When I finish my current roll of film, I'll post some pictures. We attended church with them Sunday. Sarah and Grace belong to an amazingly warm, wonderful community of faith. Here is the url to the church's website: http://www.messiahlutheranchurch.net/.

If you ever find yourself in Greece, NY, that's the church to visit. The new senior pastor, Pastor Eileen, remembered our names after just a brief chat before the service. She communed us by name. Even Sarah was amazed.

On a different train of thought, but not really, are we theologians of glory or theologians of the cross? Read this article by Jill Briscoe at Gifted for Leadership. You'll find it at: http://blog.christianitytoday.com/giftedforleadership/. It's a reminder we all need as God's people, no matter our vocation.

Peace!

Welcome to Revgals, Ivy.

I'm 52 and went to seminary in my later years as well.

Looking forward to your reflections in 2008 as you graduate and begin a new season!

Welcome to RevGals, Ivy! I'm in my late 50's and have gone to seminary but have chosen to stay a lay person. Good luck in your discerning and future.

It's lovely to be communed by name - especially when you are a visitor isn't it?

I'm 48 and in seminary too :) I think it's easier when you're older but juggling time with my teenagers is the tricky bit.

How lovely to be a grandma - I have to wait some for that (one hopes and supposes anyway!)

Jan, what seminary did you go to? What is your current vocation? Peace.

Hi Lorna,

Thank you for your comments. It is very special to be communed by name. I am so very bad at names though. I really must work on that. Even when I am communion assistant, I like to use people's names, but sometimes I go blank at good friends' names at communion!

School, even undergrad, is much easier when you're older. At first I was worried about being able to keep up with younger students, but that has not been an issue...sometimes it's the reverse.

What seminary are you going to?

Blessings as you pursue God's calling.

Hi Deb, sounds like we're pretty much in the same boat along with many others pursuing second career ministry. What seminary are you studying at?

May God give you wisdom and direction.
