RevGals Fri. 5

Weekly, RevGalBlogPals has a meme for us. This is the first I've actually participated in and is very apt for this time in my life. Let me know your responses to the following. Mine are.

1. How important is the "big picture" to you, do you need a glimpse of the possibilities or are you a details person? Primarily a big picture person who doesn't worry about the details, sometimes even though I should.

2. If the big picture is important to you how do you hold onto it in the nitty gritty details of life? Lots of prayer and communication with friends who help me keep on track, particularly if I am comparing myself with others too much and second guessing myself.

3. Name a book, poem, psalm, piece of music that transports to to another dimension ( one....what am I thinking....) "I am a Servant."

4.Thinking of physical views, is there somewhere that inspires you, somewhere that you breathe more easily? When I'm sitting, reclining on the swing on our deck. I can hear the birds singing and hear what God is saying through creation and his word.

5. A picture opportunity... post one if you can ( or a link to one!) See above picture.

Let us know in comments if you play. And for even more visits to your blog, post a direct link in your comment using the following formulation:
what you want the link to say goes here

1. I have always been a "big picture" person. That's partly by inclination and giftedness. But also, I've come to see over time, somewhat by laziness. I work very hard to keep track of the details, but also to find people who are good at details. My experience as a pastor and as a leader is that there's always someone with the gifts needed to get things done and if that person is lacking, it doesn't need doing.

2. Prayer and constant personal reminders.

3. Any of the songs on Rich Mullins' posthumously-released 'Jesus Project.' Also, 'Above All,' recorded by, among others, Michael W. Smith. 'A Mighty Fortress is Our God' and 'Beautiful Savior' are two hymns that do this. I could spend a long time answering this question.

4. Anytime it's my day off and I am with my wife.

I can't post a picture here, I guess.

Ivy,

I'll get to that other stuff (your post) next time...I'm just headed out the door, but I was wondering how you are doing?

Still in much pain? I hope you are doing a lot better.

Take care, Ivy and God bless.

Hope you'll have as much fun at seminary as I am! It's work, but good work. I have one year left to go.

Mark, thanks for sharing. I feel like there is so much I can learn from blogging pastors. I don't remember if it was you or Pr. Eric who remarked about the community of blogging pastors and the help that is. Peace.

Steve, unfortunately pain is still quite a reality. Yesterday was pretty awful, but today's been pretty good. It helps that it's not raining. I am finally getting sleep at night since I've given up on our bed and use the couch instead--only temporarily though.

Ivy, just catching up. I was working most of yesterday and last night at the hospital so I'm sorry I couldn't catch up sooner. I am a big picture person. I sometimes overcompensate on organization when I am stressed because I know details are not my strength. Will try to chat with you soon. Hope you are doing well and ready to trek to LTSG soon. Blessings!

L & G sounds like CPE can be grueling. I know your blog has been quiet lately, so I figured you were extremely busy. Peace & I look forward to connecting with you at LTSG. We are preparing and will leave here Aug. 1.
