Done, Done, Done

Sunday, May 4, was my last day of undergrad. I am finished...with undergrad that is. The next step in August is The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg. For so long it seemed like finishing undergrad was so far off...years away and now it's here.

Graduation is tomorrow, though I am unable to attend. The past few years have been challenging and exciting. I will miss the online classmates I have grown to love. We have become quite a community of faith.

Thank you Steve. It's amazing to find out how much you don't know. I used to think I knew a lot. My faith has become simpler: God is God and I am not and he is faithful. Peace.

Congratulations! I have been in your shoes, undergrad at 40-somethingish and right to seminary. Believe me when I say it can be done...I just graduated LTSS on Friday. Your's will be here before you know it. Enjoy your time at LTSG.

My son and his fiancée were determined to have a secular wedding ceremony in Las Vegas. The phrase that kept going through my mind was, "Bidden or not bidden, God is present." God is with us whether we realize it or not. And of course we kept praying for them. They are a wonderful couple who are very good for each other. We are thrilled to have Marisa in our family. The setting was beautiful: an outdoor patio area with plants around. It was evening and there was a nice breeze. The groom's father and best man told us that when they met with the minister (yes, minister, not justice of the peace) they found out he's a Lutheran minister. Hmm, isn't that interesting? The ceremony used the traditional vows. The minister spoke seriously to Christian and Marisa, charging them that they were in this for the long haul...as long as they lived. We're back!

Our Christmas celebration in Rochester was wonderful. Gracie is growing so much. When I finish my current roll of film, I'll post some pictures. We attended church with them Sunday. Sarah and Grace belong to an amazingly warm, wonderful community of faith. Here is the url to the church's website: http://www.messiahlutheranchurch.net/. If you ever find yourself in Greece, NY, that's the church to visit. The new senior pastor, Pastor Eileen, remembered our names after just a brief chat before the service. She communed us by name.
