My home for the next few weeks and why you won't hear much from me

This beautiful, mansion-like building is where I will be in a few days. Tomorrow morning I am having a knee replacement for my right knee and will be in the hospital for two to three days. I won't be feeling too badly there because I'll be numb from the waist down. But boy, when the epidural comes out the pain is something else!

After that, I will be in rehab at Riverview Healthcare Community. I took a tour of the rehab unit Fri. and it was very nice. I expect to be there two weeks, three at the most.

I will not have wi-fi in my room, but there is a common area where I can plug in the laptop, so for a while I will not be posting as much. Peace.

Ouch! But I know that after the surgery and rehab you will be glad you had this done. We'll be praying for you.

I'm praying that the doctors will do a fantastic job on your knee and that you will be better than new!

Hi all. Thanks so much for your prayers and concern. I am doing extremely well, so much so that I am being kicked out of the rehab facility this Sat!! I would ask your prayers for my room mate, however. They are having difficulty adjusting her blood clotting rate. At this point, she's in danger of having a blood clot. She and her family are scared.

My son and his fiancée were determined to have a secular wedding ceremony in Las Vegas. The phrase that kept going through my mind was, "Bidden or not bidden, God is present." God is with us whether we realize it or not. And of course we kept praying for them. They are a wonderful couple who are very good for each other. We are thrilled to have Marisa in our family. The setting was beautiful: an outdoor patio area with plants around. It was evening and there was a nice breeze. The groom's father and best man told us that when they met with the minister (yes, minister, not justice of the peace) they found out he's a Lutheran minister. Hmm, isn't that interesting? The ceremony used the traditional vows. The minister spoke seriously to Christian and Marisa, charging them that they were in this for the long haul...as long as they lived. We're back!

Our Christmas celebration in Rochester was wonderful. Gracie is growing so much. When I finish my current roll of film, I'll post some pictures. We attended church with them Sunday. Sarah and Grace belong to an amazingly warm, wonderful community of faith. Here is the url to the church's website: http://www.messiahlutheranchurch.net/. If you ever find yourself in Greece, NY, that's the church to visit. The new senior pastor, Pastor Eileen, remembered our names after just a brief chat before the service. She communed us by name.
